WASHINGTON   –  U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will come to Poplar Bluff to meet with the Highway 67 Corporation and area businesses, government and economic interests on Friday, January 25, at 11:00 a.m. CST.  The meeting to discuss transportation and economic issues will be held at the First Community Bank in Poplar Bluff, and it is open to the public.

“Highway 67 is a critical transportation artery for our region.  Southern Missouri businesses, manufacturers and producers depend on 67 to bring in inputs and then distribute our finished goods and agricultural products,” Emerson said.  “It’s essential that we keep Highway 67 in good condition to keep our economy connected to the rest of the world.”

In FY 2008, Emerson procured federal funds for Highway 67 totaling $2,205,000 and $11,137,896 for Wappapello Lake construction, which includes construction work on Highway 67.

“As I advocate for our region in Congress, transportation projects are a high priority,” Emerson said.  “Federal transportation projects are just one way in which we ensure Southern Missouri gets a return on the tax dollars we send to Washington.”
