WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice will make a $25,840 grant to the Jackson Police Department through the COPS Secure Our Schools Program. The funds will support efforts to improve security in schools, and the grant is one of nine being awarded in the state of Missouri.
“Our first reponders work tremendously hard to assure all of our citizens are safe in their homes, at work and on our roads. They also have a great responsibility for the safety of our local schools when hundreds of students are at their studies every day,” Emerson said. “This grant will heighten the focus on safety in Jackson’s schools as the Jackson Police Department continues its excellent record of public safety in our community.”
