WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will visit Salem in Dent County for a discussion about small-diameter timber use in new energy technologies with representatives of the U.S. Forest Service and the Missouri Forest Products Association on Monday, August 27, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. CDT on the 26th Annual Emerson Farm Tour.
“We have a true wealth of natural resources in Southern Missouri, and the tremendous forest products industry is an important part of our rural economy. With new opportunities for alternative fuels like cellulosic ethanol taking shape, I think it has never been more important for Americans to get educated about the technologies that can help us achieve energy security in the United States,” Emerson said. “I look forward to learning how the U.S. Forest Service and the Missouri Forest Product Association are taking on this challenge as well as how Congress can help, and I invite the general public to attend this meeting, too.”
Members of the public and media are invited to attend.
