WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will visit the Texas County Food Pantry on Tuesday, August 28, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. CDT on the 26th Annual Emerson Farm Tour. At 10:30 a.m., Emerson will visit the Texas County Health Fund. Emerson will congratulate both entities on their receipt of grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Development.
“Hunger is a domestic problem throughout our country that has long been the focus of my efforts representing the Eighth Congressional District, as it was for Bill Emerson during his service. I am very pleased that USDA Rural Development is rewarding the efforts of the Texas County Food Pantry to facilitate the generosity, kindness, and philanthropy of so many in Southern Missouri who willingly lend a hand to their neighbor in need,” Emerson said.
“The men and women of rural health departments have a difficult task: they are charged with the safety of the general public, and they have to be just as prepared for a disaster as our first responders are. The combination of vigilance and preparedness shown by the Texas County Health Fund is a tremendous cause for congratulations, but they have earned a USDA Rural Development grant which will enable the county’s health department to even better serve our citizens,” Emerson said.
“I look forward to congratulating the staff at both locations on Tuesday, and I hope the public will continue to show their support for the good work being done in Texas County.”
