WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will meet with Taney County producers at the Forsyth City Hall on Wednesday, August 29, at 9:00 a.m. CDT on the 26th Annual Emerson Farm Tour.
The focus of the meeting will be conservation programs included in the Farm Bill reauthorization currently being considered by Congress.
“It’s an important time to recognize that the best environmentalists are our farmers and ranchers – those who depend on fertile, well-cared-for, productive ground. The Farm Bill certainly recognizes the reality that our producers are the first, best stewards of the land. I want to be sure that Southern Missouri farmers and ranchers know what conservation programs are available to them in the Farm Bill,” Emerson said. “This legislation will be a system of support for our agricultural community and our rural economy until as far off as 2012, and it’s vital that we get the input so Congress will get it right.”
