WASHINGTON D.C. - Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded Helena Regional Airport a $2,250,000 grant to upgrade and expand their aircraft rescue and firefighting capabilities.
“Providing Montana’s airports with the most effective fire rescue equipment possible is one of the best things we can do for passenger safety,” said Rehberg, a member of the House Appropriations Committee. “This grant will provide a huge boost to the Helena Regional Airport and I applaud DOT’s decision.”
The grant will be used to expand and upgrade the aircraft rescue & fire fighting building as well as to purchase a new quick rescue firefighting truck.
“We’re pretty darn excited about this grant,” said Ron Mercer, Director of the Helena Regional Airport. “Ensuring safe travel for our passengers is a top priority and we’re certainly glad to be able to upgrade our current facilities.”
