Rehberg Secures $185,000 for Gallatin County Treatment Court

WASHINGTON, D.C.Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg today announced almost $2.5 million in funding for projects throughout the state, including $185,000 for the Gallatin County Treatment Court.  Funding was included by the House Commerce, Justice and Science Subcommittee for Fiscal Year 2010.

“The Gallatin County Treatment Court has proven to be a valuable asset in the criminal justice system,” said Rehberg, a member of the House Appropriations Committee.  “Drug abuse and dependence is at the root of many crimes committed in our communities, and by addressing it, the treatment court offers a way for the offender to overcome their addictions and lead productive, crime-free lives.”

The Gallatin County Treatment Court, which can currently treat up to 30 people, has been effectively dealing with offenders suffering from chemical dependency since 1999.  This funding will allow an increase in capacity by adding case management, mental health access, treatment access, and housing and education assistance for program participants willing to seriously address their chemical dependency issues.

"The Gallatin County Treatment Court works,” said Gallatin County Commissioner Joe Skinner.  “Funding that provides the ability to expand this program benefits our entire community, and we appreciate Representative Rehberg's efforts to help our community save money, reduce crime, and change lives."
