WASHINGTON, DC - Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg, announced today the U.S. Department of Agriculture has cleared the way for $87,100 in grants to assist rural businesses across Montana. Four projects across Montana will receive USDA grants.
“In order for Montana’s economy to continue to grow, we’ve got to help sustain and create jobs,” said Rehberg, a member of the House Appropriations Committee. “Grants that provide assistance to rural businesses are invaluable in bringing new jobs to Montana.”
Rural Development funds will be used on four projects, which include creating manufacturing plans for a new small business on the Flathead Indian Reservation, completing assessments and engineering studies for a wheat gluten and ethanol plant in Box Elder, and completing feasibility studies for both a proposed bottled water factory in Saco and farm-to-table cooperative in Glendive. These projects will create a combined 70 new jobs for Montana.
Montana grant amounts are as follows:
· $25,000 for Missoula Area Economic Development Corp.
· $25,000 for Chippewa Cree Tribe of Box Elder
· $23,000 for Community Giving Assistance Toward Employment of Glendive
· $14,110 for Phillco Economic Growth Council, Inc. of Malta
