March 3, 2009 McIntyre Announces $196,168 for Fayetteville Fire Department
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre announced today that the Fayetteville Fire Department has received $196,168 in federal funds for training and equipment.
Congressman McIntyre stated, “Our first responders are on the front lines everyday protecting our citizens and communities. These federal funds will help Fayetteville Fire do their job, and I congratulate Fire Chief Benny Nichols and all the great folks at the Fayetteville Fire Department for their work in securing these funds. Safety and protection is first and foremost.”
The Fayetteville Fire Department received the funds, appropriated through Congress and distributed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in this round of grants. Funds for Fayetteville will be used for medical screenings of personnel, training program to certify 32 personnel as fitness trainers, and two pieces of exercise equipment for each of the 15 fire stations. Total project cost is $245,210 with the local share being $49,042.
Congressman McIntyre has been a long time supporter of the federal fire program and has worked repeatedly to increase funds for distribution to our nation’s fire departments.
