    McIntyre Announces $1.2 Million for Community Health Centers

    Washington, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre announced today that four community health centers in Southeastern North Carolina will receive a total of $1,254,978 in federal funds to help expand services and provide access to health care.  These funds are made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

    Congressman McIntyre stated, “Community health centers are on the front lines every day helping people.  These funds will assist them as they continue to provide health care to those in need.  This is an investment in our citizens and our communities!”

    The four community health centers in Southeastern North Carolina that have been awarded these funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services are:

    •    Robeson Health Care Corporation -- $257,881
    •    Goshen Medical Center -- $635,876
    •    Stedman Wade Health Services -- $157,817
    •    New Hanover Community Health Center -- $203,404

    Grantees submitted plans explaining how these funds would be used.  Strategies to expand services may include, but are not limited to, adding new providers, expanding hours of operations or expanding services.
