    McIntyre Announces $726,000 for Methodist University and $200,000 for Fayetteville/Cumberland County Regional Public Safety System

    Washington, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre announced today that Methodist University has received $726,000 in federal funds for its forensic science and physician assistant program.  In addition, $200,000 in federal funds has been approved to help Fayetteville and Cumberland County in their regional public safety program.

    Congressman McIntyre stated, “These funds are about education, healthcare, and safety!  Educational opportunities for Methodist University students to fulfill their dreams, more health care professionals for our area, and a safer community for all of Fayetteville and Cumberland County!  These are our taxpaying dollars coming home to make a difference!”

    These funds were approved by the US House and are now headed to the US Senate for approval and then to President Obama for his signature.

    The breakdown of the specific funding is as follows:

    ·$250,000 was approved for the Methodist University Forensic Science Cybersecurity Education and Training program which will allow for the purchase of necessary software and technology to prepare professional to meet the current needs of state and local law enforcement in the area of crime scene and cyber-crime investigations and analysis;

    ·$476,000 for the Methodist University Physician Assistant Program which will allow for the program to expand and increase health care access to medically underserved areas of North Carolina

    ·$200,000 for the Fayetteville/Cumberland County Regional Public Safety system which will allow them to complete their interoperability goals to purchase mobile radios.
