    McIntyre Announces $176,050 for Smyrna Township VFD

    Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre announced today that the Smyrna Township VFD has received a $114,450 federal low-interest loan and a $61,600 federal grant to purchase a new fire truck.

                Congressman McIntyre stated, “Our volunteer fire departments are always on call to help protect our homes, businesses, and communities.  These federal funds for the Smyrna Township VFD will help them be better prepared as they do their job.  Congratulations to them on receiving these funds!”

                Congress appropriated the $176,500 and USDA Rural Development obligated the funds that will help Smyrna purchase a new top mount pumper truck.   This truck will allow the fire department to improve their efficiency and possibly lower their insurance rating.  An improvement in insurance rating would me an insurance premium reduction for each of the 2,238 residents in the fire district.
