(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Representative Sue Myrick (NC-9) voted for the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act (S. 193). This bill increases the fines on broadcasters who air indecent material from $32,000 to $325,000. The bill now goes to the President to be signed into law.
“Broadcasters who air indecent material must be held accountable. Families deserve to be protected from smut that goes over the airways, and this bill does just that by raising the fines by ten times the original amount,” said Rep. Myrick.
