CBC Chair Comments on the

Death of Playwright August Wilson

 
(Washington, D.C.)- U.S. Representative Melvin L. Watt (D-NC), Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, today released the following statement on the death of playwright August Wilson:

“The Congressional Black Caucus extends its sincere condolences to the family of playwright August Wilson, one of the most vital and provocative literary voices of this generation.  During his extraordinary career, Mr. Wilson received numerous awards, including two Pulitzer Prizes, a Tony Award for Best Play and a record seven New York Drama Critics' Circle prizes. He set a unique standard for writers everywhere and will be sorely missed around the world.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
