(Washington, D.C.) - The numerous warnings, inadequate planning and apathy in preparing the Gulf Coast region for the scope of Hurricane Katrina’s massive devastation are some of the points members of the Congressional Black Caucus will address during a press conference tomorrow, Thursday, February 16 in H-321 of the U.S. Capitol. The Caucus will also respond to a report published by the Republican House Select Committee on Katrina, which found that the White House and local parishes failed in their response to the storm. “There is no question that the Bush Administration failed in its response to Hurricane Katrina,” noted U.S. Representative Corrine Brown (D-Fla.), CBC First Vice Chair. “The sad thing is that it continues to fail the victims of Hurricane Katrina today.” WHO: Members of the Congressional Black Caucus WHAT: Members give assessment of government’s preparation for and response to Hurricane Katrina WHEN: Thursday, February 16, 2006 WHERE: House Radio and Television Gallery (####) |
