Statement of Congressional Black Caucus Chairman on the Nomination of John Roberts to the U.S. Supreme Court |

(Washington, D.C.)- The members of the Congressional Black Caucus will closely evaluate the record of John G. Roberts Jr., President Bush’s Supreme Court nominee. We will carefully weigh Judge Roberts’ record on issues of particular importance to the African American community, including affirmative action, civil rights, justice and equality.
This is certainly consistent with our experience that the Supreme Court has been the place of last resort for African Americans throughout our history in this country.
