Will join the American Cancer Society and skin cancer experts to talk about tanning dangers and how to be healthy and safe in the sun
LONG BRANCH, NJ– On Thursday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m. Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) will join the American Cancer Society, dermatologists and a skin cancer survivor at the Gazebo at Pier Village for an educational event on summer sun safety. With the summer season approaching, they will raise awareness of skin cancer and share tips for protecting skin from sun damage.
They will also highlight the dangers of tanning beds, particularly the risks posed to youth who tan. Congressman Pallone, along with colleagues on the House Energy & Commerce Committee, released a report in February that found startling evidence of false and misleading health information provided to teenagers by many in the indoor tanning industry. Congressman Pallone will call attention to the report and dangerous tanning salon practices, and encourage healthy skincare behaviors, such as SPF sun protection and frequent skin cancer screenings.
