Tenth District Congressman Donald M. Payne received 100% for his support of issues that are relevant to the everyday lives of Americans. The American Association of University Women (AAUW), a non-partisan organization that advocates for education and equity, appraised Members’ of Congress votes on such key issues as funding higher education, increasing the minimum wage and reauthorizing the Voting Rights Act. In its bi-annual report, AAUW Congressional Voting Record, the American Association of University Women has, for the third straight time, given Representative Payne a perfect score.
“This past November, the American people sounded a clarion call urging elected officials to redirect the nation’s priorities,” Congressman Payne stated. “In the 110th Congress, I will continue to push the issues that matter most to the average American.”
In its New Direction for America, the newly-elected Democratic majority will commit itself to passing legislation to increase the minimum wage, to make healthcare and college more affordable, and to provide real security for the American people on our soil and abroad. Representative Payne said, “Upon our return in January 2007, I am hopeful that Congress will fulfill the promise made to the American people of equal opportunity, success and security.”
