| Payne Announces Grant for Newark City Department of Health and Human Services | |||

Washington, D.C. – United States Congressman Donald M. Payne today announced that the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded $12,754,923 to the Newark City Department of Health and Human Services in Newark, NJ for its HIV Emergency Relief Project Grants. HRSA, a US Department of Health and Human Services agency, is tasked with expanding access to healthcare for underserved populations. By administering financial support to healthcare providers in the 50 states, District of Columbia and US territories, HRSA enables grantees to give care to the uninsured, people living with HIV/AIDS, pregnant women, mothers and children. The Newark City Department of Health and Human Services provides and champions for comprehensive healthcare and social and environmental services to its citizens. Congressman Payne stated, "HIV Emergency Relief Project Grants go to metropolitan areas severely affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. These grants allow agencies to provide medical care and such support services as mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment to affected individuals and families. This funding will help the city of Newark to provide comprehensive HIV/AIDS care to its citizens." # # # |
