WEINER RECEIVES A PERFECT SCORE FOR HIS RECORD

IN CONGRESS AS A FIGHTER FOR NEW YORK’S MIDDLE

CLASS

New York City  - Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Brooklyn & Queens) announced today that he has received a perfect score of 100 from the Drum Major Institute for Public Policy (DMI) for his voting record to date on middle class issues in 2007’s 110th Congress. The score is part of DMI’s newly announced www.themiddleclass.org, which will track members of Congress throughout the year as they vote on legislation of significance to the current and aspiring middle class.

Rep. Weiner’s perfect score is the result of his tireless advocacy for New York City’s middle class including efforts to make college education more affordable, increase government accountability for contracting, expand health insurance for children, protect workers rights, improve our environment, increase the minimum wage and lower the cost of prescription drugs. Weiner voted a perfect 9 for 9 on legislation that strengthens the middle class and those striving to make it.

New York City’s middle class are feeling the squeeze from stagnant wages, skyrocketing gas prices, increasing health insurance premiums and rising college tuition costs,” said Rep. Weiner.  “I pledge to continue fighting for New York’s middle class families that are the backbone of our great city.”

The Drum Major Institute, a non-partisan, non-profit think tank has given Rep. Weiner a perfect score of “A” on their annual Congressional scorecard for the last three consecutive years.
