Brooklyn Children’s Museum May Benefit from Towns Funding

WASHINGTON -U.S. Representative Edolphus “Ed” Towns (NY-10) today announced that the U.S. House of Representatives approved $250,000 to help expand the services and activities available at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum.

“Brooklyn residents should have access to this great community center year round,” said Rep. Towns.  “The Brooklyn Children’s Museum is working hard to enrich our community, and I am proud to support this effort.”

The Brooklyn Children’s Museum will utilize the funds to construct a canopy that will cover the Community Cultural and Educational Center and allow nearly year round use of the facility.  With the new canopy, the Center can continue hosting large school and summer camp groups, free community events and outdoor activities in three out of the four seasons.

The funding secured by Rep. Towns was included in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2010, approved by the House last month.  The next step for the bill is approval by the United States Senate.
