During the meeting, Ambassador Mekel and Congressman Towns discussed recent developments in the Middle East.  Particular emphasis was placed on the issues of terror and weapons of mass destruction. The two agreed that vigilance must be maintained in the international efforts to support the forces of peace, and the dangers presented by terrorist organizations including the Hamas.

In light of previously successful endeavors between the United States and Israel, the Consul General and Congressman raised ideas for greater economic cooperation and ways to support new joint ventures in the field of telecommunications.
