Washington, DC -- Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, will meet with H.E. Zeljko Komsic, one of the three-member presidents of the Federation of Bosnia & Herzegovina Thursday,October 23, 2008 at her Brooklyn office to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between the United States and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Congresswoman Clarke made the following remarks in anticipation of the meeting:
“Following independence from Yugoslavia in 1992, Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered three years of brutal war, which created deep division among the three major ethnic groups within the country. Many Bosnians arrived in New York City during or shortly after the war and have contributed significantly to the diversity and richness of our great city.”
"I look forward to sitting down with H.E. Komsic, listening and learning about the challenges facing his nation and his concerns, as well as, his ideas on how to strengthen bilateral relations
between our two nations."
