Washington, D.C. - “Today is an exciting and great day for Pike County and Southern Ohio. The announcement of the Southern Ohio Clean Energy Park Alliance and a new nuclear power plant is a great step forward in meeting Ohio’s energy needs in a clean and environmentally sound way.
I wish to thank the alliance members for their partnership and for recognizing the value of the Piketon facility and its dedicated workforce. More importantly, I am excited by the potential for economic development in one of the poorest and economically distressed parts of Ohio. The potential of 3,000 to 4,000 new construction jobs over the next 10 years will help boost the region’s economy significantly.
I am committed to doing everything within my power to work with my colleagues in the U.S. Congress, the Governor and regulators to help streamline the permitting process and make this project a reality.”
