WASHINGTON D.C - U.S. Representative Dan Boren announced today that he has secured $1.1 million for the construction of a high explosive storage facility at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.  The funding was part of the Military Quality of Life and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2006 which passed the House today.

 

“I am extremely pleased that we were able to secure funding for this project,” Boren said.  “Projects like this make the ammunition plant an even stronger piece of our national security infrastructure and help ensure its future.”

 

“The hard work and devotion of the good people at the ammunition plant has made this base an asset to our nation’s military arsenal,” Boren said.  “I am honored to be in a position to help provide them the resources they need.”

 

The plant received an additional $5.4 million in the bill, as requested by the Department of Defense, for an ammunition container facility.
