BOREN SECURES $500,000
FOR TRIBAL ROAD PROJECTS

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Representative Dan Boren announced today that he has secured $500,000 for the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee’s (UKB) tribal road and bridge projects. The funding was part of the Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2008 which passed the House this week.

“I am extremely pleased that we were able to secure funding for these projects,” Boren said. “This funding will provide much needed repairs for many of the aging roads and bridges in rural areas of northeastern Oklahoma.”

The focus of these projects will be in the rural areas that service the communities of the UKB tribal members as well as non-tribal members that live in the tribe’s jurisdictional area.

“This announcement is great news for UKB tribal members, and the roads and bridges that these funds will address are in desperate need of repair,” said Chief George Wickliffe of the UKB tribe.
