WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Congressman David Wu issued the following statement about the proposed financial rescue package:
“It’s not good that Congress needs to take a rescue action, but the consequences of inaction would be much worse for our economy as a whole. Whatever we do, we must ensure that there is significant oversight to protect taxpayers, since they weren’t the ones who got us into this mess in the first place.
Right now, there are a number of policy options and approaches being discussed. I am withholding judgment until there is a final proposal on the table, and I will only vote for a rescue plan that is in the best interest of Oregonians."
