WASHINGTON, DC -- On the opening day of the 110th Congress, members of the House Appropriations Committee received their subcommittee assignments.
Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) retains his seat on the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee and accepts new appointments to the Energy and Water Development and Homeland Security Subcommittees.
“I’m excited about these new assignments. They provide an opportunity for me to ensure the safety and security of our nation and our city, and expand our capacity for alternative energy resources,” Fattah said.
In a reorganization move, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees will now have common subcommittee structures. The House will have 12 appropriation subcommittees, including two new subcommittees on Financial Services and Legislative Branch appropriations. Democratic leaders predict the restructuring of the subcommittees will provide for a streamlined approach to ensure the timely completion of the appropriation spending bills that fund all federal government agencies. |
