“The statement by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Peter Pace, which brands homosexuality as immoral conduct, is both offensive and degrading to the allegiance of gay and lesbian service members and forecloses the option of military service to every gay American. The idea that the sexual orientation of any American has relevance to his or her patriotism or ability to fight in the Armed Forces is wrong-headed and harmful to our nation’s security.” |
