PHILADELPHIA PA – Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) issued the following statement after Mayor Michael Nutter signed and ordered enforcement for five Gun Safety ordinances approved today by Philadelphia City Council: 

“I commend Mayor Nutter for his decisive action in signing and ordering immediate enforcement of five ordinances unanimously approved in City Council today aimed at controlling the sales, straw-buying, illegal trafficking and proliferation of firearms on the streets of Philadelphia.

“City Council members are to be congratulated for their courageous leadership in approving these ordinances and for moving us a step closer to a safer Philadelphia.”
