Congressman Chaka Fattah Co-Chairs National Summit on America’s Children

WASHINGTON, DC -- At the behest of U. S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) on Tuesday co-chaired the National Summit on America’s Children.

Selected by the Speaker for his commitment to the well being of children, Congressman Fattah brought together experts to address the needs of all children.  Education, physical and psychological needs were just some of the issues focused on by four panels of specialists.

“Today, I had the great honor of hearing firsthand from national experts, scientists and academics on recent scientific findings on children,” said Congressman Fattah.  “America’s children are the future of our great nation. It is our obligation to ensure we have the right policies in place today to prepare them to be productive, successful members of society tomorrow.  Today’s summit was a critical first step to ensure that our federal policies match the latest scientific research on children.”

The day-long summit brought legislators together with experts from a wide array of areas, including early childhood learning, health care and child care. Attendees and Members heard research-based testimony from a diverse group of men and women involved with innovative public and private initiatives that legislators will use to address relevant federal policy issues.

“Democrats are committed to advancing a New Direction that ensures America’s families and children have tools necessary to build successful and vibrant futures,” said Congressman Fattah.  “The National Summit on America’s Children is certain to help us achieve that goal.”
