WASHINGTON, DC, Dec. 6, 2006 -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D., PA) today  issued the following statement on House Resolution 1082 concerning Mumia Abu-Jamal:

"While I remain unconvinced that justice has been served in this case, I am voting for the Resolution because the glorification of anyone who stands convicted of so terrible an offense is an affront to those who risk their lives on a daily basis to serve and protect.  Ultimately, it is my hope that the courts will finally determine whether Mumia Abu-Jamal is deserving of a new trial which would then end all debate."
