PHILADELPHIA PA – Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) issues the following statement upon the announcement that Unisys Corporation is relocating its corporate headquarters from Blue Bell, Pa., to Philadelphia in January 2009.
“Welcome back, Unisys. Welcome home.
“As the company whose forerunners launched the digital age right here in Philadelphia six decades ago, Unisys is returning to its roots. And it is making this move – the transfer of corporate headquarters and 225 top-level jobs to prime Center City office space in Two Liberty Place – for all the right reasons.
“Unisys is telling its most important clients, and the high-tech world in general, what we have known all along: Philadelphia is a good place for business. The accessibility, brain-power, economy and excitement provide all the ingredients for success.
“Unisys has made a smart choice, and I am confident it won’t be the last corporation to make the same decision.
“I commend Mayor Street, Mayor-Elect Michael Nutter and all those who put this deal together. As Joe McGrath, the President and CEO of Unisys, declared, this is ‘win-win’ for Unisys and for Philadelphia.”
