Washington, D.C. - This week, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to restrict the death penalty as punishment in child rape cases. In response, U.S. Rep. Phil English (R-Pa.) released the following statement:
“This week the U.S. Supreme Court failed to protect the welfare of American children by giving a free pass to those in society who commit one of the most heinous offenses: child rape.
“Congress should act swiftly and go on record in favor of reversing this absurd court ruling and explore legitimate constitutional amendments that will restore the death penalty as an option for this disturbingly brutal crime.”
