Washington, D.C.   -Today, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller, overturning the District’s handgun ban as in violation of Second Amendment rights.  In response, U.S. Rep. Phil English (R-Pa.) released the following statement:

“Today, the U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed our constitutional freedoms and finally put an end to the backdoor assault on our fundamental right to own firearms. I applaud the ruling of the Supreme Court, which will set precedent for courts across the country and keep activist legislative bodies at bay from further eroding our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.”
