| Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Bill Shuster received the United States Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Spirit of Enterprise” award for his strong voting record on critical business issues during the 109th Congress.
“I am proud to have earned the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce,” Shuster said. “One of my most important roles in Congress is to promote the economic value of 9th district in Washington and make it attractive to investment. Doing so creates jobs, opportunity, and a higher standard of living for families throughout central and western Pennsylvania.”
“Representative Shuster proved to be a valuable ally to the business community last year, supporting measures to stimulate job creation and spur economic growth,” said Tom Donohue, Chamber president and CEO. “The business community appreciates Bill’s dedication to a pro-growth agenda and we a re proud to present him with this award.”
“Congress needs to create policies that encourage economic investment instead of punishing the entrepreneurial spirit,” Shuster said. “That means low taxes, an end to needless regulation and incentives for businesses to start and grow through the generations.”
The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federation, representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
The Chamber’s prestigious “Spirit of Enterprise” award is given annually to members of Congress based on rankings it gives for key votes. Shuster compiled a 100% score with the Chamber last year and holds a 96% ranking during his tenure in Congress. |
