SHUSTER APPLAUDS NEW DATA SYSTEM FOR SAFETY OFFICIALS

Communications Seen As Key To Police And Funding Awards New System

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster announced a grant for the Chambersburg Wireless Mobile Broadband Network.  Local police and public safety personnel will use this equipment to help ensure the safety of all the residents in the community.

“The men and women who risk their lives to protect us deserve the best equipment possible to do their jobs,” said Congressman Shuster.  “This funding provides them with an enhanced system of communications, because we know that was a serious problem during the attacks on September 11th.”

Chambersburg will receive $250,000 to purchase and help install the Mesh Enabled Wireless Mobile Broadband Network.  This system is a mobile data communications system for police and other officials to ensure information is being sent in a timely manner.

The funding for this state-of-the-art system was allocated in the Commerce, Justice, State and Judiciary section of the Omnibus spending bill, which was passed by Congress.  The Omnibus bill is a massive piece of legislation that includes a variety of appropriations.
