Shuster Joins Colleagues to Fund Essential Rural Air Service

Washington, DCCongressman Bill Shuster joined his colleagues from rural America to include an amendment in the House Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Bill that would increase Essential Air Service funding by $15 million.

"Travelers throughout central and western Pennsylvania rely on Essential Air Service to travel for business and pleasure," Shuster said. "The program allows facilities like the Altoona-Blair County Airport to invest in new services for its customers, and stay competitive in the air travel market."

The amendment, supported by Shuster and his colleagues from rural America would return EAS funding to a level of $110 million, triggering $15 million in additional money to serve our nation’s rural airports.

"The release of this additional funding will make sure that our rural community airports offer an increasing range of destinations and services for their passengers," Shuster added. "I look forward to working with my colleagues to make sure this amendment becomes law."
