| Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster is pleased to announce that the open season for applications to the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant Program (AFG) has begun. The open application period will expire on May 4, 2007.
“The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program has been a valuable asset for our local first responders,” Shuster said. “Fire companies and ambulance squads throughout the 9th district have taken advantage of this program to get financial assistance for the equipment and training they need, but could not otherwise afford on their own.”
Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the AFG website at www.firesupport.com, the U.S. Fire Administration’s website at www.usfa.fema.gov and the federal grants clearing house website www.grants.gov for more information, frequently asked questions and even online tutorials on the grant process. Applicants in need of more assistance can also contact the program’s help-desk by phone at 1-866-274-0960 or by e-mail at firegrants@dhs.gov.
“I encourage all of the district’s first responders to visit these sites,” Shuster added. “I also want them to know that I am ready to assist them any way I can in the grant process.”
Fire and ambulance squads looking for help in the grant process are encouraged to contact Congressman Shuster’s district offices by calling his Toll-Free number: 1-800-854-3035. |
