SHUSTER SECURES FUNDING FOR GLENDALE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Grant Awarded to School District To Enhance Rural Education

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster announced today a grant for the Glendale School District Wireless Infrastructure.  This funding will be used to improve their current broadband wireless and assist in the learning process for the students.

“Today, students can use the Internet to research projects for science or read up on history if they are writing a paper.  They have an unlimited resource in the Internet,” said Congressman Shuster.  “We need to provide the appropriate resources in the classroom for students to use, and because of this funding, Glendale will be a model for how schools can use the Internet to overcome barriers in education.”

The Glendale School District will receive $50,000 to supplement their current broadband infrastructure and open up additional connectivity.  Glendale will use the funding to create opportunities for students to pursue a variety of activities, including musical training via the Internet.

The funding for this project was included in the Labor, Health and Human Services portion of the 2004 Omnibus bill, a massive piece of legislation which includes a variety of appropriations.
