| Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster today voted to give legal protections to Americans who report suspicious terror-related activity. The “Improving America’s Security Act” passed 371-40. Shuster released the following statement after the vote:
“This vote is a huge win for the American people. By passing this legislation, Congress stood up to protect American citizens who want to do their part to combat terrorism. No one should be threatened with a lawsuit because they notified authorities of suspicious activity. Doing so would create a chilling effect on our ability to thwart attacks.
The War on Terror won’t be fought by our military or police alone. We all have a part to play. The saying “if you see something, say something” isn’t just a slogan; it’s a call to action for every American to be conscious of terror-related activity.”
