Shuster Applauds Supreme Court Ruling Against Partial Birth Abortion

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster applauded the Supreme Court for their decision today to uphold a national ban on partial birth abortion.  The Court, in a 5 to 4 ruling agreed that the Partial Birth Abortion Act passed by Congress and signed into law in 2003 does not violate a woman’s constitutional rights.

“Today’s decision by the Supreme Court reaffirms the belief held by a majority of Americans that partial birth abortion is a barbaric procedure that borders on infanticide. This horrendous procedure was banned by Congress through the will of the people.  Today, the Supreme Court upheld its role as the arbiter of the Constitution and with its decision reaffirmed the integrity of the legislative process.

I applaud the Supreme Court’s decision today and recognize it as a tremendous victory for the pro-life movement and especially; the most vulnerable of our society, the unborn children we strive to protect.”
