| Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster released the following statement after the House voted to sustain the President’s veto of the Democrats’ Iraq spending bill:
“The House Today failed to overturn the President’s veto of the Democrats’ plan for defeat in Iraq. I hope that the Democratic Party is done playing politics with the lives and welfare of our troops in combat. The time for political posturing is behind us. What remains is the urgent need to get our troops the funding they need to accomplish their mission in the war against Islamic terrorism in Iraq and beyond.
It is my hope that both parties in the House can come together under the mutual understanding that the threat we face is real, that our War on Terror continues and that we need to do the responsible thing and put our soldiers first. It’s time to give our forces in Iraq and Afghanistan the money and equipment they need to make them as safe as possible and get the job done.
