Keller Participates in Page Program

WARWICK, RI - Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today announced that Laura Keller of Wyoming is serving as a page in the U.S. House of Representatives this month. Keller will be a senior at Chariho High School in September.

“I am proud to have Laura participating in the page program,” said Langevin. “She is an outstanding young adult who has balanced a successful academic career with many extra-curricular activities and a part-time job. I have no doubt this program will be an invaluable experience for her.”

Keller, an honor roll student, volunteers at the Westerly Hospital and in the Teens as Teachers program as well as a peer tutor at Chariho High School. She is also involved in the youth ministry program at the Cranston Christian Fellowship and their Vacation Bible camps.

To become a page, a student must be at least 16 years old and must have completed grade 10 but not yet entered grade 12. The Page Board requires applicants to be U.S. citizens and to have maintained a 3.0 grade point average in their major subjects in grades nine and ten.

Applicants can only be appointed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Every session the Speaker chooses a different group of House members to submit nominations.
