Washington D.C.- Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), the Chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), issued the following statement after President Bush announced his intention to nominate former House Budget Committee Chairman Jim Nussle to succeed Rob Portman as director of the Administration’s Office of Management and Budget:
“Jim Nussle knows the budget process, has great experience in trying to reform the federal budget and is eminently qualified to run OMB, and I look forward to once again working with him.
“Having proudly served under Chairman Jim Nussle on the House Budget Committee, I am confident that he will continue Mr. Portman’s efforts to restrain spending and maintain the President’s ongoing commitment to work with House Conservatives to successfully veto bloated Democrat spending bills that exceed the White House budget request.
“I wish Mr. Portman the very best as he returns to Ohio to be with his family, and I commend his efforts to bring fiscal accountability to the budget process.”
