Washington D.C.- Congressman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, today highlighted a report put together by House Republicans detailing how Democrats – under the leadership of Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Hoyer, and Caucus Chairman Emanuel – continue to push an agenda that directly attacks American jobs and businesses.
Since the opening gavel of the 110th Congress, business interests have been under attack. The report, entitled “Death by a Thousand Cuts: Democrats’ War on American Jobs,” details the devastating effects that the Democrat agenda would have on businesses and, therefore, employees, consumers, the stock market, families and the economy as a whole.
Additional information about the Democrats’ ongoing war on American jobs and businesses will be posted on a new website found here. Earlier this week, the Republican Study Committee issued a list of Democrat bills (with embedded hyperlinks for more information) that would harm American jobs and businesses.
RSC Chairman Hensarling issued the following statement:
“The 110th Congress is bad for business, specifically small businesses that are the job creating machine of the American economy. Democrats’ continued attempts to force policies that raise taxes, increase costs, and expand regulations are outright hostile to businesses and, therefore, employees, families, consumers, the stock market, and the economy as a whole.
“Since January, Democrats have authorized bills that would raise taxes by over $4000 on every taxpaying citizen and American family. They have increased federal spending by nearly a trillion dollars over 11 months, a pace that is three times faster than the average American family’s ability to pay for it. At a time when gas prices, increasing health care costs, and continuing education bills consume a huge portion of the family budget, the Democrat plan to frivolously spend taxpayer dollars on federal bureaucracies is out of touch with the American people. With that in mind, it’s little wonder that the approval ratings of the Democrat controlled Congress has plummeted so low that their legitimacy is questionable.”
