IRVING – Ten Cub Scouts from Pack 842, of Coppell, were recognized on Feb. 6 at the National Scouting Museum in Irving for earning the Arrow of Light award. Each scout was presented an Arrow of Light award, which signifies the highest rank in Cub Scouting, and also a certificate of special recognition from the office of U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant. The Arrow of Light award in Cub Scouts is earned by Webelos that have been active participants in their den and are ready to join a Boy Scout troop. Many of the requirements for the Arrow of Light award are intended to familiarize the scout with a local troop and show him that crossing over into a troop is the next step to take in scouting. A scout that earns his Arrow of Light patch has also completed nearly all the requirements to earn the Scout badge in the troop. At the ceremony, parents and friends watched as each Cub Scout was presented their Arrow of Light award. After the Arrow of Light presentation, each scout was recognized with a certificate of special recognition by John Hayes, the military and veterans affairs liaison for Congressman Kenny Marchant. The 2009 Arrow of Light recipients were: Frank Brown; James Clifford; Trace Douglas; Daniel DiFrancesco; Tanner Edwards; David Howell; Trevor Onstott; Travis Scott; Connor Smith; and Andrew Weaver. Pack 842 Leaderships consists of: Craig Weaver, Cub master; Trey Douglas, Webelos den leader; Cathy Douglas, Diane Onstott, Regan Smith, Webelos assistant leaders; Karen Weaver, committee chair; and Brian Hall, Den chief of Troop 840. Craig Weaver, Cub master of Pack 842, concluded the ceremony. ### |
