FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Brian Thomas (202) 225-6605 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) released the following statement on his selection to the House GOP American Energy Solutions Group. “I am honored and excited that Leader Boehner and Conference Chairman Pence have chosen me to serve on the American Energy Solutions Group. As an active participant in last summer’s effort to push for ‘all of the above’ energy legislation, I am eager to help lead a nationwide grassroots effort to break our dependence on foreign energy. “As the summer travelling season draws near, we have no time to waste. The only way we can break our dependence on foreign energy is by crafting an ‘all of the above’ solution which: (1) increases domestic energy exploration and production; (2) incentivizes research and development of clean alternative and renewable energy technologies; and (3) encourages fuel efficiency and conservation. The American people demand and deserve both a near-term energy solution and a long-term energy strategy. “Passing a comprehensive energy plan will create jobs for Americans, stimulate economic growth by reinvigorating the energy sector, and give relief to American families struggling to get by during these tough economic times by reducing the pain at the pump. Now is the time to unlock the vast untapped domestic energy resources. Anything less is window-dressing.”
