Marchant Commends Gateway Ground-Breaking
October 30, 2008

SOUTHLAKE – Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) on October 26 honored the Gateway Church with a special congressional recognition for their service to the community.  The event marked the official ground-breaking of Gateway’s new campus at Highway 114 between Kimball and Carroll Avenues in Southlake.

“The Gateway Church is true a pillar in the community of District 24,” said Marchant.  “Gateway Church is one of the fastest growing churches in the nation for a good reason.  Its positive message helps individuals and communities live a noble life of service.”

In 2000, Pastor Robert Morris founded Gateway Church.  Gateway held its first service at the Hilton Hotel in Grapevine with approximately 180 people in attendance.  By 2001, Gateway Church had expanded to five services with over 2,000 regular attendees.  Three years later, the Church expanded again with a new campus in Southlake with average attendance at 5,000.  By 2008, membership amassed to over 15,000 people.

Once the new campus is completed, Gateway expects it to serve as the central hub to oversee multiple campuses throughout the Metroplex and across the United States.

Gateway Church members largely reside in Northeast Tarrant County and the greater Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  Gateway Church has actively contributed to many community service projects in District 24.
