Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) issued the following release regarding President Obama’s remarks to a joint session of Congress on the issue of health care reform. “After spending a month in my district, I heard loud and clear that my constituents oppose the President’s government-run health care plan, and I agree. With the nation’s unemployment at 9.7% and rising, this year’s budget deficit reaching an all-time high of $1.8 trillion, and $9 trillion in new debt projected over the next ten years, our focus should be on turning the economy around and creating jobs. We are losing valuable time as more and more Americans lose their jobs, their homes, and their health coverage. Instead of insisting on passage of a very unpopular $1 trillion government takeover of health care coined the ‘public option’, let’s come together and get this economy back on track. Ultimately, fixing the economy is the most important thing we can do to help the American people.” ### |
